Way of St. James

„Ich bin dann mal weg“ (''I'm off for a while'') is the title of Hape Kerkeling's book about his experiences on the pilgrimage...

Recharge your batteries during a beautiful trip through Bavarian Swabia. Go on a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela and be fascinated by the uniqueness of our region. There are many reasons for doing the tour. Going on a pilgrimage cannot always be reduced to thoughts about faith and religion. What's there behind is the experience of hiking and testing out your physical limits, meeting new people and finding to yourself, away from everyday life. Already in the Middle Ages, the major trade routes ran along churches, guesthouses and big cities, among those Augsburg which was a meeting point for pilgrims before their departure to Santiago de Compostela. In the 10th and 15th century, the actual motivation for doing a pilgrimage was to get remission of all your sins. Only in the 20th century, the Way of St. James experienced a revival.
